Nat'l Pie Day's Age-Old Debate, Are Pizzas Pies?

January 2, 2018

Fired Pie

This National Pie Day, Fired Pie is looking to settle the debate on an age-old question: Are pizzas also pies?

We vote... Yes! The origin of the word pizza is uncertain. However, it is Italian for 'pie' and may have come from Medieval Greek pitta "cake, pie," from Greek pitta "pitch".

This National Pie Day, Tuesday, January 23rd, join Fired Pie in fighting for our right to call a pizza by its true name- a pie! Try any 11” pie for $8.29 and enjoy restaurant favorites such as the Hawaiin BBQ- with bbq sauce, mozzarella, Canadian bacon, pineapple and cilantro or maybe sink your teeth into the Meaty Italian- with tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, salami, capicola and your choice of sausage or spicy sausage.

Fired Pie allows you to take on the role of chef by picking and choosing your own type of dough, sauce and topping. The sophisticated-yet-affordable pizzeria also offers build-your-own salads. The Arizona-based pizza restaurant opened its first Fired Pie in Phoenix the summer of 2013. Currently they have 19 locations throughout Arizona: four in Phoenix, two in Chandler, one in Ahwatukee, two in Glendale, one in Tempe, one in Avondale, two in Tucson, four in Scottsdale, one in Mesa and its newest in Gilbert.
